It moves two things, both as rebuilt geometry with every member keeping its section: the LEAN of the whole panel downwind (toward -Z, posts and palings together, tops kept level) and the sand DRIFT heaped against the windward (+Z) foot. At 0 the fence stands nearly upright, 2 degrees over, with a low skim of sand about a tenth of a metre up the palings. At 0.4, the default, it leans 8 degrees and the rippled bank rides about a quarter of the way up, clear under the bottom wire and 0.8 m out. At 1 it is laid 16 degrees over and a half-metre bank with sharper ripples buries the bottom wire and runs 1.2 m out. The lee side stays blown clear at every value. The drift meets each joint on the bay edge with the same section on every piece, so two bays built at the same tide butt into one continuous bank; no wire crosses a joint. On the corner the two arms stand themselves up toward the corner post, which stays plumb.","affects":"geometry","min":0,"max":1,"step":0.1},"weather":{"type":"range","default":0.5,"label":"Weather","describe":"Salt and sun bleaching, one flat tone per PALING and never per facet: each paling goes grey at its own rate toward its own silver, lighter or darker. 0 is new stock, every paling the fresh chestnut colour. 0.5, the default, is a row mostly gone silver with a few still brown. 1 is every paling at its own silver except the one or two replaced palings in each run, which stay fresh. It touches the palings only: posts, wire, sand and the joint faces keep their exact colour, and it changes no geometry.","affects":"colors","min":0,"max":1,"step":0.05},"piece":{"type":"choice","default":"straight","label":"Piece","describe":"Which piece of a dune fence line this is. Every piece presents the same joint: the flat cut face of a half post and the flat cut section of the sand drift on the bay edge, so any piece butts any other, two butted pieces close one whole post and the sand runs on without a gap. straight: a 4 m bay, joints at x = -2 and x = +2, a whole post in the middle. corner: the line turns through 90 degrees about a plumb corner post at the centre, joints at x = -2 and z = -2, with the windward face and the drift on the outside of the turn. end: stops a line running toward +X at a stouter strainer post at x = +1.4, braced by a raking strut inside the run, the wire tied off round it and the drift wrapping the end. start: the mirror of end, closing the other end of a line with the drift still on the windward side (yawing end 180 degrees would put it on the lee). gap: a 1.0 m clear walk-through on the bay centre between two posts, each returned by a short leg of palings back to a post on the lee side, the drift stopping either side.","affects":"geometry","options":["straight","corner","end","start","gap"]}},"presets":{"salt-silver":{"paling":"#A28E74","post":"#7E6E59","wire":"#474540","sand":"#E8D9B5"},"new-chestnut":{"paling":"#B8A484","post":"#5C4F42","wire":"#6B665E","sand":"#E8D9B5"},"tarred":{"paling":"#9A8968","post":"#474540","wire":"#7C7871","sand":"#E8D9B5"},"dune-grey":{"paling":"#C1AE92","post":"#6B665E","wire":"#474540","sand":"#D6C49C"}},"materials":{"paling":{"kind":"wood","finish":"raw"},"post":{"kind":"wood","finish":"raw"},"wire":{"kind":"metal","finish":"satin"},"sand":{"kind":"soil","finish":"sand"}},"rev":1790631786,"materials_note":"what each colour zone is made of: `kind` and `finish` name a procedural PBR material in https://polyfork.dev/materials.mjs (dressByAlbedo finds a zone by its albedo in COLOR_0).
